In March 2020, right at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, we secured a large warehouse. It came at just the right time, although to begin with, we weren’t sure we would last two weeks, but in the following 8 months, we received over 25 ton of food donations from the public and some larger supermarkets, this has allowed us to provide meals for around 3,500 people (Apr-Dec 2020), needless to say, that if we did not have our warehouse, we would have had nowhere to store all our food. The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of food banks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Fourteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year close to 3 million emergency food parcels were distributed to people in crisis.
