Taff-Ely Foodbank talks food poverty at Cost-of-living Summit

This week, our CEO, Andrew, and our Campaign Coordinator, Matthew, attended the regular Cost-of-Living Summit organised by Heledd Fychan MS. It was a great opportunity to speak to other organisations working with people in our community facing hunger and hardship, and to give a presentation on the work of the foodbank.

Andrew spoke about the worrying trends that the foodbank is seeing, with more people than ever needing emergency food in Taff-Ely in 2023/24, with children and the elderly representing a worryingly large minority of parcel recipients.

Matthew spoke about the foodbanks campaign for an Essentials Guarantee, which would benefit millions across the country facing hardship, and massively reduce the number of people who need to use foodbanks.
