Our Staff
Behind all of our amazing volunteers, are a dedicated team of staff all working to see that no one in Taff-Ely goes hungry. Here's a little introduction to them all.

Andrew Butcher
As CEO of Taff-Ely Foodbank, I lead the organisation’s mission to provide emergency food and support to people in crisis across the local community. With a strong commitment to tackling food poverty, I work closely with partners, volunteers, and donors to ensure no one goes hungry in Taff-Ely.

Matthew Evans
I coordinate the day to day activities that run from the warehouse to the distribution centres. Along with maintaining and developing the operational running of the Foodbank.

Matthew Stevens
As the Partnership Coordinator, I am resposible for building relationships with our community, referral partners, and anyone else working to tackle poverty. We are committed to ending the need for foodbanks today, together, and forever, and collaboration is the best way to achieve that.

Charmaine Walsh
As Support Manager, I work closely with people facing hardship, helping them access the right support at the right time. From food assistance to housing, benefits, and well being services, I provide guidance and connect people with the resources they need to move forward. Whether you’re seeking help or looking to learn more about local support networks, I’m here to listen and help.

Laura Harrington-John
I’m the Fundraiser for Taff-Ely Foodbank, where I get to write creative grant applications, plan community events that bring people together, and create fun ways for supporters to give online. Every day is about turning compassion into action and raising the vital funds that help feed local families
Our Trustees
Our amazing board of Trustees play a vital (and often unseen) role in helping Taff-Ely Foodbank function in an effectively (and legally)! They have a wide array of skills, backgrounds and focuses. Get to know them a bit more below:

Michelle Thomas
Michelle started volunteering for Taff-Ely Foodbank in December 2022 after seeing the volunteers at a collection in Tesco. In July 2023, she joined the board of Trustees. Previously, she has worked for Admiral Insurance as a Sales Manager for 13 years and raised her two girls with her husband, Rhys.

Elizabeth Price
Liz has been involved with Taff Ely Foodbank since 2010, mainly supporting the Gilfach Goch Foodbank. After many years of volunteering, she became a trustee in 2021.
Liz currently works as a Marketing Manager at a local school and believes being part of the Foodbank is especially important, as it’s a way to support local people during difficult times and help make a positive difference in the community.

Rachael Strange

Hannah Furnish
Hannah joined the board in March 2024. She lives in Cardiff and has two young children. She volunteered at Cardiff and Taff-Ely foodbank before becoming a trustee, and also has 10+ years of experience working across mental health services, homelessness, and supported housing, working with vulnerable individuals.
Currently working at Interlink RCT as a Well-Being Coordinator (social prescriber), she supports individuals’ social needs.

Stephen Tompkins
Steve first became involved with Taff-Ely Foodbank 6 years ago when he and his wife Tricia were asked to help out at a Tesco collection day, and they haven’t looked back since. They both volunteer at least two days a week, and Steve became a trustee in October 2023.
Steve and Tricia previously managed a charity run retreat for 8 years, working alongside the trustees, ensuring it was run in accordance with Charity Commission regulations.
