Volunteers make a difference in the local community across a range of roles, including boosting donations, packing food parcels, providing a warm welcome, tackling loneliness, signposting to additional services, connecting with partners, raising awareness and leading projects.
Volunteer roles
There’s a range of ways you can volunteer at our foodbank:
Volunteer in our Warehouse
Our warehouse in Pontyclun is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm. We have a great team of volunteers who pack foodbank parcels ready for them to go to our distribution centres, as well as weighing in, dating, and storing any donations we receive. We are currently at capacity for warehouse volunteers.
Become a Volunteer Driver or Driver’s Mate
We are currently looking for a volunteer driver to drive our van. This would include delivering parcels to our distribution centres, and collecting donations from our local partner supermarkets. You need to hold a full drivers licence (but we can train you to ensure you are comfortable driving the van) and be available during our Pontyclun warehouse opening hours.
Volunteer in one of our Distribution Centres
We have seven distribution centres across Taff-Ely, all run by local volunteers. You will speak to clients as they come in to collect their parcel, having a cup of tea and a chat, and ensuring they feel welcomed and supported during their visit. See our locations page for centre opening times and addresses.
Become a Volunteer Fundraiser
Fundraising is vital to ensuring we can keep providing support to our community. You can help us by sharing and supporting our fundraising campaigns, helping with events and outreach in the community, or by undertaking creative projects (we will provide all the necessary training and support). If you want to help us raise food and funds, get in touch with our Fundraiser at Laura@taffely.foodbank.org.uk
