Last week, Taff-Ely Foodbank was excited to welcome the BBC Radio Wales Breakfast team to our warehouse headquarters in Pontyclun to discuss the UK Government's 2025 Budget.
Our Support Manager, Charmaine, and Partnerships Coordinator, Matt, spoke to BBC Wales presenter Dot Davies about the things the foodbankk is seeing in the community, the vital role the foodbank plays in supporting people facing crisis, and our positive reaction to the abolition of the Two-Child Limit, which will help lift hundreds of thousands of children across the country out of extreme poverty. The foodbank had recently joined Trussell's calls to scrap the limit, so this news was particularly well received.
We also welcomed guests from the local community, including local charities, community groups, and businesses, to share their thoughts on the budget and how it will impact them. It was encouraging to hear about how improvements to the social security system will benefit their work.
The foodbank would like to thank Dot and the BBC Radio Wales team for coming down, and allowing us to highlight the vital work our staff and volunteers do in Taff-Ely. You can listen to the show on BBC Sounds by clicking here:
