This week, our Campaign Coordinator, Matt, launched the Guarantee our Essentials campaign in RCT, with a community meeting in Porth.
Matt shared the campaign with attendees and encouraged them to get involved and shape the campaign’s future. It was great to see members of the community, including people who have volunteered at the local foodbanks and people with lived experiences, come along to share their views of Universal Credit and get involved in our campaign to ensure no one has to go without a foodbank.
With more people than ever in RCT relying on foodbanks to survive, it is so important that our foodbank communities take action. An Essentials Guarantee would ensure Universal Credit covers essentials such as food, toiletries, and utility bills, and would improve the lives of millions of people across the UK.
It is vital that our campaign is based on the experiences of and led by people with lived experiences – if you want to use your voice and experiences to help reform our social security system and ensure no one has to go without, get involved by contacting Matthew@taffely.foodbank.org.uk.
