On Wednesday, 29th April, Taff-Ely Foodbank and Sally's Angels held a quiz night in Pontyclun RFC,  raising vital funds for the foodbank.

It was an incredibly positive evening - people travelled from across the area to form a team and compete across five rounds of trivia, while enjoying some local food and drink. Eight different teams attended and battled it out for first. Most importantly, the event raised an incredible £575 for the foodbank, money that will ensure we can continue to support anyone in Taff-Ely facing crisis.

It also marked the end of our ongoing silent auction, which raised over £720 and saw members of the public win prizes ranging from a signed Wales Rugby Jersey, to a Paintballing experience, to gift vouchers to local businesses and services. Our thanks to all who took part and our congratulations to the winners!

Taff-Ely Foodbank was chosen as Sally's Angels Charity of the Year for 2026, and it has proved to be a wonderfully positive partnership.  This quiz was just the latest in a series of fundraising initiatives they have organised, raising food, funds, and awareness in our community to tackle hunger and hardship in Taff-Ely. The foodbank is incredibly grateful for all of their hard work and support.

We would also like to pass on our thanks to Pontyclun RFC for hosting us, and to The Ivor Arms, Pipeworks, The Flower Pot, The Windsor, and Ammonite Yarns, without whom the event would not have been possible.
